Ayrton Senna | Inside the Yellow Helmet

Today we recognize the indisputable truth about performers at the top of their field: Mindset.

If there is one thing we can learn from performers who revolutionize their respective field then it is the wisdom shared from their personal experience. As we witness iconic pioneers whether in business, sport, or daily life we have the tendency to make the mistake of attributing their success as an inevitable outcome of solely based on their physical prowess. The simple fact of the matter is we merely see the final result of a painting.

Ayrton Senna, praised as one of the most 'naturally talented' and 'gifted' drivers in Formula One. When we peal back our perceptive habit that attributes a performer's success as a result of nothing other than talent, we can start to see a far more detailed painting. No one wants to admit the truth; the best performers are above all the hardest working students of themselves. Ayrton Senna did not achieve what he did because he only relied on natural talent or a world class strength & conditioning program. Ayrton Senna was able to do what he did by first accepting that he didn't know it all, then with hours and hours of additional grueling practice on the track, rigorous film analysis studying how and where to push his limits, intense discipline in technical & tactical development, and an unquenchable work ethic that expected nothing less than progress. Only when we begin to observe each delicate stroke of Senna's painting revealing the struggle, sacrifice, and triumph can we sincerely honor his performance.

One thing stands true time and time again for world-class performers, especially Ayrton Senna; his mindset was a calculated and methodical pursuit of self-mastery.
